Zombieland. How to Train Your Dragon. Notorious. Here's a quick rating for some movies I saw in April:

Definitely, Maybe (2008)
starring Ryan Reynolds, Isla Fischer, and Abigail Breslin
A pretty cute movie. Reynolds' character tries to explain to his daughter his past relationships and how he met her mother. He fakes the names in his stories and twists some things up so you're always guessing who her mother really is. Kept me entertained. All 3 of the female leads were terrific in their own way. Annoying at times but you grew to appreciate them. It was worth the rental.
4/5

Zombieland (2009)
starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin
I watched this fairly soon after watching Definitely, Maybe and oh boy, Abigail Breslin grew up quick in the past year! It wasn't what I expected in any way. Lots of gore at the beginning (REALLY REALLY gross gore) but as the movie progressed, the gore lessened and the storyline really took shape. Overall, pretty funny and decent movie.
3/5

How to Train your Dragon (2010)
voices by Jay Baruchel and Gerard Butler
AMAZING! Loved this flick. A great film for kids and adults alike. The animation was incredible and viewing it in 3D definitely added to the depth of the film. I would see it again in a second. I might even buy it. Who knew dragons could be cute?!And that vikings could be so funny!?
5/5

Notorious (2009)
starring Jamal Woolard and Derek Luke
Sucked. Don't even bother. It's a biographical film about the Notorious B.I.G. It was interesting to learn about him and his rise to fame, along with Diddy and 'Lil Kim, but it was way too perverse for my liking. Lots of cursing, to the point that it was obnoxious and sounded unnatural. Terrible acting too.
1/5snapcrackleamyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15241191382192711509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8969860812522987839.post-37119438329485126792010-04-22T16:52:00.007-04:002010-04-22T18:39:24.163-04:00I WANT IT: B. Here is a brief synopsis of what lies ahead for us in the coming months:

April 10 - Florence & the Machine concert in Toronto
April 11 - Cat Walk Fashion Show for the KW Humane Society
April 13 - Talk at the Meeting
April 16 - Gourmet Dinner in St. Jacobs
April 17 - Peter Pan at the Stratford Festival
April 17 - Girls Wine Tasting and Karaoke Night
April 20 - Hot Chip concert in Toronto
April 22 - Lou Lou Shopping Event at Don Mills Shopping Plaza in Toronto
April 23 to 27 - My brother and sister-in-law come home to visit!
April 24 - Elle Shopping Event and Fashion Show in Toronto
April 25 - 1st Anniversary Party for my brother and sister-in-law
April 26 - Kate Nash concert in Toronto
April 27 - White Rabbits concert in Toronto
May 1 - Yeasayer concert in Toronto
May 2 to May 12 - Getting ready for our trip to Europe
May 12 to May 30 - Off to Britain, Scotland, Ireland and Wales!
June 9 - She & Him concert in Toronto
June 11 to 13 - District Convention in Kitchener

And to top it all off, I have Boot Camp twice a week and riding 3 times a week, plus all the regular meetings and service. Oh, and work and watching Gossip Girl once a week, of course. Plus, hoping to fit in a weekend at the cottage at some point too.

It's going to be a CRAZY few months, but isn't that what makes life so great? I am looking forward to every aspect of these next few months (dreading the tiredness, but I'll sleep when I'm old).

Here's to being young, a little reckless, and having amazing friends to share all these experiences with!snapcrackleamyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15241191382192711509noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8969860812522987839.post-84792600974052859752010-04-06T10:32:00.011-04:002010-04-06T15:30:23.912-04:00I WANT IT: 50's-60's KitchenMy dream kitchen would be the classic retro look. It's a pretty complicated story-line, filled with characters who lives connect without you expecting it.

I stole this summary off of IMDB.
Please read below:

"Living in an upper middle class family-oriented suburb, Sarah and Richard Pierce, who have an infant daughter Lucy, have a dysfunctional marriage. Sarah is already seen as a bit of an outsider amongst the "park mothers", so news of the Pierce's dysfunctional marriage would drive a further wedge between Sarah and the rest of the mothers, who espouse the "white picket fence/2.4 children" mentality. Into the park comes househusband Brad Adamson and his infant son Aaron. Not knowing who he is or his story, the park mothers coin him "The Prom King" because of his preppy good looks. They collectively have a "look but don't touch" mentality toward Brad. Brad is struggling to find his place in life, having already failed the bar exam twice and avoiding his third attempt. He continually is looking for connections to his youth, when his life held so much promise. As such, he too is in a unsatisfying marriage to his beautiful and driven wife, Kathy, the household breadwinner. By chance, Sarah and Brad get to know each other, and are attracted to each other if only in their search for that something missing in their lives. The question becomes what they are to do with their feelings. In the meantime, sex offender Ronnie McGorvey, who was convicted for exposing himself to a child, moves into the neighborhood into the home of his mother, upon whom he has a pseudo-Oedipus complex. Reading along, I discovered Mole Salami.

Pronounced 'mole-ay', it's a type of salami with typical Mexican ingredients, like chocolate, cinnamon, ancho, and chipotle peppers. Having had Mole Chicken in Mexico before (and loving it), my mouth watered at the sound of this concoction. I'm not really a Salami-eater, per say, but I do think I would enjoy this sumptious treat with some red wine and bread.

The only issue is that Mole Salami is produced in a shop in Seattle and to have it shipped here would be ridiculous and stupid. Regardless, one day, I will travel to Seattle and pick me up some Mole Salami.

View the website here:
http://www.salumicuredmeats.com/snapcrackleamyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15241191382192711509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8969860812522987839.post-34734379147996498362010-03-19T16:19:00.010-04:002010-03-19T23:39:03.497-04:00I WANT IT: Burberry Prorsum Gabardine Coat
This trench is to die for.
Well, not quite, or else I would already be dead. Well today, I decided, since I'm getting stronger, I'm going to go to the gym and try a class. I chose BodyPump based on the time being convenient for my schedule. So off I go, drive to the gym after work, get there about 10 minutes before the class starts, get in my gym clothes, walk into the class not knowing what to expect, and all I can say is OUCH.

BodyPump = Full weights class.

I haven't lifted actual weights for a couple years, so this was a total shock to my poor injured body. 60 minutes of lifting barbells, deadlifts, bicep curls, tricep curls, pushups, situps, lunges, squats... everything painful in life.

Overall, would I do it again? Yes, yes I would, because although it was painful, it was one hell of a workout. The instructor's ripped body speaks to the results, plus she was really nice 'cause I was new, so she helped me out a lot during the class.

Well now that I've successfully completed a class of BodyPump, I will try AquaFit next week. I love swimming, so it can't be that bad.

Pray for me.snapcrackleamyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15241191382192711509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8969860812522987839.post-17200156062035036522010-02-10T12:11:00.002-05:002010-02-10T12:13:21.542-05:00QUOTE IT: Michelle Obama
"Cute's good. This movie!

It got some pretty bad ratings but I actually found it funnier than a lot of comedies out in recent years. The basic premise of the movie is as follows: Mike Myers plays Guru Pitka, also known as The Love Guru. He is always trying to outdo his rival and childhood friend, Deepak Chopra. He tries to gain celebrity by getting an appearance on Oprah and counseling one of the Toronto Maple Leafs on how to win his wife back. To me, that is a winning storyline. Most likely because I love the Leafs, I love Mike Myers, the Leafs coach is a midget in the movie, and Justin Timberlake plays the well-endowed French goalie of the Los Angeles Kings.

(See below and just try and tell me that picture is not hilarious. Just try.)

WINNING storyline for sure. Jessica Alba also stars in it and I even thought she didn't do too bad of an acting job. Oh, and there is a special appearance by Kanye West.... who would have guessed? Probably half the population as he's well-known for his guest appearances now. A little bit of romance, a lot of comedy, and a midget. Can't beat that.

I don't think it should have gotten an Oscar or anything.
But I think it deserves a worthy 3/5 stars.snapcrackleamyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15241191382192711509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8969860812522987839.post-83056933077089142022010-01-21T16:54:00.002-05:002010-01-21T16:58:50.160-05:00I DID IT: Boot Camp, Week 2I thought boot camp would get easier, but no, it's only getting harder.

On Monday, we did a boxing/kickboxing class. By the end of the class, I was pretty sure I had pulled a muscle in my leg and I could barely lift my arms.

Last night, we did mostly cardio and abs. HARDEST CLASS EVER. We did a human obstacle course and I nearly cried a few times because I didn't think I could make it through, but we all survived somehow.

It's so strange though. At times, I just want it all to be over and to go home and lay in the bathtub and then go to bed... not in the bathtub, in my bed. Yet, I still look forward to every session. It's ridiculously difficult but so much fun. I guess that's the best kind of exercise.

Who knows what next week will bring...snapcrackleamyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15241191382192711509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8969860812522987839.post-319530748789312932010-01-18T12:41:00.004-05:002010-01-18T17:31:24.482-05:00I WANT IT: Tod's Sandalo Cinturino and Fibbie ShoesI love the way these heels look. Love her, love the show.

Riders jeans are supposed to 'instantly slim you' if you buy the correct size because of the 'no-gap waist, tummy control panel, and slimming stretch denim.' Well, not really, but kind of. There is a plaid-craze going on. Someone should make a movie 'Attack of the Plaid' where people get infected with the plaid-craze, and they all start wearing plaid, and the heroes have to stop them or else we'll have a plaid-infected universe and all die of the plaid. I should patent that idea before someone steals it.

Back to the bag.
http://www.filson.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3359052&cp=2065674.2065687.3373308&parentPage=family

This bag is from a company in the States called Filson and the reason I love it is.... the plaid (specifically the burgundy plaid as pictured above). Yes, I have the plaid-craze. It has leather trim, which reminds me of my riding tack and all the good leathery-ness of it. It would be a good bag to take to the cottage on weekends in the fall/winter or to Blue Mountain for a weekend skiing trip. Unfortunately, like most things, it's too expensive to purchase, approx. $250.

But I can admire from a distance.snapcrackleamyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15241191382192711509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8969860812522987839.post-38098956172455854302010-01-15T10:37:00.003-05:002010-01-15T10:50:49.667-05:00I WANT IT: Moni Moni Misty BagThe Misty Bag from Moni Moni.... let's talk about it for a minute.

Why is this bag so expensive? When I say expensive, I mean almost $500 expensive. Well, I'll tell you why it's so expensive. It's handmade in Tuscany (drool) with a special technique. Instead of dying the material and then stitching it together, these bags are stitched together and then dyed, so that the dye makes shading in the creases for that worn-in look.

Voila!
http://www.monimoni.bigcartel.com/product/moni-moni-misty-bag

If I was a rich princess who lived in an NYC apartment on the Upper East Side, I would have this bag. Actually, I would probably have an even more expensive bag.
snapcrackleamyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15241191382192711509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8969860812522987839.post-20301187158148183092010-01-14T16:38:00.004-05:002010-01-14T16:55:46.932-05:00I DID IT: Boot Camp, Week 1I completed my first week of boot camp. Crazy, but it's true. And to admit 'I love it' would be an understatement. Who knew that working out with a group of crazy women and one crazy instructor could be so much fun? It actually takes me back to my grade school days when we would run like mad around the soccer field or play a good game of Dodgeball, except I'm older and running around is a bit harder.

Our first night at camp, we got measured. I mean measured measured. She measured our arms, legs, chest, waist, stomach fat, leg fat, weight... EVERYTHING. We get measured again in 4 weeks to see the progress and again at the end of the 8 week camp.

We then started with some basic warm-up drills and stretches, which steadily progressed into lunges and squats. About 10 minutes into the class, I was DRENCHED with sweat. I repeat, DRENCHED. But I guess it's a sign we were working hard. We then did pushups/situps/triceps for what seemed like forever. The next part was the worst part in my opinion. This is where I felt like giving up on life. We did mountain climbers on mats, while our partner would run across the gym doing mountain climbers on these frisbee-things that slide. And then we'd switch it up. There is no way to describe how hard it was until you've tried it yourself. The class kept going with some running and then abs work and slowly ended with some soothing stretching to the sound of Alicia Keys' version of 'Empire State of Mind'.

It was quite the first class. I gotta give it up for our instructor, Amanda, though. She always has so much energy and keeps us going, even when we feel like dying out.

Our second class was even better. We were all still sore from Monday's workout, so the stretches at the beginning and the first lunges and squats were killer, but our bodies can do so much more than we think they can and we all managed to get through it. We then did the whole 'sitting against the wall as long as you can thing.' I actually enjoy doing that, so it was kind of like a break for me. We followed up with triceps/biceps exercises, moved onto some legs, and then hardcore into the cardio.

We did a mini-relay doing fast-feet across the floor while throwing a basketball back and forth to our partner, jumping jacks at the end and racing back to the finish. After doing that for a bit, we moved onto the serious relay. It was pretty much like a suicides relay, except we had to grab basketballs in between and race them back to our team, and do jumping jacks and burpees. Seems like a lot to do at once, and it was. Proud to say that our team won with 13 points overall. We then had to do abs work with our team by lying on our backs and doing sit-ups to throw the ball back and forth to our teammates. Again, our team was so pro with great rhythm. We then did the final exercise of passing the ball with our feet to each other while lying on our backs. Harder than it sounds. Some final stretches and we were done!

Surprisingly, I don't feel as sore today. I'm taking that as a good sign that I'm getting stronger already. I really enjoyed the competition aspect of it and I like running when I know it's for a purpose. I find myself smiling through the whole thing and cheering other people on. I think this may become an addiction; an addiction to boot camp.

Watch out, world. I'm coming for ya. snapcrackleamyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15241191382192711509noreply@blogger.com0
